		<description>This is indeed true.  Although I think it is the case with any discipline that practices outdoor fieldwork.  I once heard that geologists have rather low average life-spans in part because they get in so many car accidents looking at features off the road.  I have no idea if that is actually true or not - but it sure sounds plausable.</description>
